A young boy named Harry discovers that he is a wizard and learns that he is accepted into a school called Hogwarts which is a school that teaches wizardry and witchcraft. Harry is able to easily make friends on the train to Hogwarts by his famous incident at birth including the scar on his forehead. Also, he learns that his parents were wizards but were killed by an evil wizard many years ago. Harry makes 2 very good friends as his life in Hogwarts begins but learns that the wizarding world is more dangerous than he thinks as something special is hidden in the school and the evil Voldemort is ready to get his hands on it.

Awards
Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone was nominated for many awards including Academy Awards (Oscars), Best Original Score, Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design. Also, some of the cast won awards such as Rupert Grint who won "Satellite Special Achievement Award for Outstanding New Talent". Emma Watson (Hermione) won "Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film - Leading Young Actress". Judianna Makovsky won "Best Costume Design". The BFCA Award For Best Family Film gave an award to the film in 2002 but stopped handing awards in 2007.
Director
For the first Harry Potter film the director was Chris Colombus. Chris was found in the production company called 1492 pictures in 1995. He also directed a few other Harry Potter films but he was the first person to direct and start off the Harry Potter films. Chris Columbus also directed films such as Home Alone, Home Alone 2 and Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets. Chris Colombus is currently in the process of producing The Christmas Chronicles.

The principal members of this film are Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) This cast appeared in all 8 Harry Potter films and they first appeared in Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone. Also Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) played a huge part in this film as he told Harry Potter that he is a wizard.
